Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain is located in the Lake St Clair National Park in Tasmania. The Park was listed as a World Heritage National Park in 1982 due to its vast array of cultural features found to be of global significance, its is also home to the famous Mt Ossa, Tasmania's highest Mountain. Cradle Mountain was named after its resemblance to a gold mining cradle. Lots of plants and animals found in the cradle mountain area are remnants belonging to Gondwana and Pangaea. Lake St Clair is Australia's deepest natural freshwater lake.

Cradle Valley is situated in the north area of Tasmania and only a one hour drive from Burnie and Devonport. The highest temperature that Cradle Valley reaches is in February at an average of 18.8 degrees. July holds the coldest temperature for Cradle Valley at 7.8 degrees on average but also has the most rainfall in this area at an average of 212.2 mm per year. The month with the lowest amount of rainfall is of course February, being the hottest month, at only 75.9 mm a year. Cradle Valley's vegetation zone is rainforest which means it is mainly just trees and plantation with some natural water features.
